Bulgaria Air, Lufthansa set up joint catering business

The new entity, to be named Silver Wings, but its ownership ratio has not been determined yet.
Bulgarian Air said it is negotiating the final details of the future deal. LFG Lufthansa Service did not return requests for further information until Dnevnik went to print.
LFG Lufthansa Service owns catering company LSG Sky Chefs, which was incorporated by US carrier American Airlines and currently operates in more than 130 countries. The company posted a consolidated profit of EUR 2.1 billion for 2009 and produced 405 million dishes. Its latest customers include Australia’s Qantas, Alaska Airlines and Czech Airlines.
Bulgaria Air and LFG Lufthansa Service are scheduled to put pen to paper on Wednesday. This is the companies’ second joint undertaking after Lufthansa Technik, whose ownership is split between the German airline and Bulgaria Air’s owner Bulgarian Aviation Group.
Lufthansa Technik Sofia has invested BGN 50 million in Bulgaria, outstripping its BGN 40 million target. The company, whose repair centre is located at Sofia Airport, is sprawled on a 12,500 sq m site and can handle two aircraft at a time.
