Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie and his Serbian counterpart Dragan Sutanovac agreed here on Monday to enhance personnel and medical exchanges to further deepen bilateral military ties.

In their official talks in Beijing, Liang talked positively about the growing strength of China-Serbia military relations, citing frequent high-level visits and sound cooperation in various fields.

Calling military ties an important part of the bilateral strategic partnership, Liang called on the two armed forces to maintain the sound growth momentum of ties and explore new cooperation areas and channels.

Sutanovac echoed Liang's suggestion, adding the Serbian defense ministry attached great importance to developing cooperation with China, and hoped to enhance military exchanges with the country, including personnel training and military medical service.

He also extended his condolences to the family members of the victims of the mudslides in northwest China's Gansu Province.

Liang, also Chinese state councilor, appreciated Serbia's adherence to the one-China policy. He said China was ready to make joint efforts with the country to boost further development of bilateral strategic partnership.

Before their talks, Liang hosted a welcome ceremony for Sutanovac's China visit.
