The Greek government on Tuesday categorically denied it was seeking an extension of the repayment period of the country’s entire debt, reiterating that it was discussing an extension only of the EU-ECB-IMF 110-bln-euro loan -- and nothing more.
Speaking to reporters, government spokesman Giorgos Petalotis said “the Greek government has a very specific agenda. Let’s not forget there is decision, in principle, to extend the repayment of the 110-bln-euro loan, and the government is not discussing anything further than that”.
Moreover, Petalotis said comments by Theodoros Pangalos, the government’s vice-president, regarding a repayment extension period for the entire state debt was “a political, personal view”.
