Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska and her Kosovo counterpart Bajram Rexhepi signed Friday in Skopje an agreement on setting up joint border patrols.
The document offers opportunity for simplifying the joint border control procedures in favor of the security and confidence building between the two police services and peoples in general, Jankuloska and Rexhepi said.
The Ministers expressed satisfaction with the excellent cooperation between the two countries and police forces, as confirmed by the good results, aimed at the realization of the mutual goal - safe and crime-free region.
"Our goal is to have well-controlled, safe borders - non-porous for crime, illegal migration and at the same time open for citizens who wish to legally travel from one to other country. So all of the measures we have been applying are just one more instrument for reducing the trans-border crime and illegal migration," Jankuloska said.
The Ministers also reviewed the possibility for opening of new crossings on the Macedonian-Kosovo border.
