American NGO Freedom House has published an annual report on press freedoms which states that in 2010 the least number of people in over ten years had access to free media.

American NGO Freedom House has published an annual report on press freedoms which states that in 2010 the least number of people in over ten years had access to free media.

The report covered 196 countries and it lists Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 96th place and gives it an overall score of 48, for 2010.

The study found that only 15 percent of the world's population lives in countries with free media, while 42 percent have a partly free press and 43 percent live in countries with non-free media.

Croatia is ranked 85th, whilst Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia remain the countries with a troubling state of media freedoms.

This year the Scandinavian countries held the top places on the list of media freedoms, led by Finland with a grade 10, as well as Norway and Sweden with a grade of 11.

According to the annual report, out of the 196 countries analyzed, 68 of them are enjoying freedom of media, 65 partly have access to free media and 65 have a non-free media.
