Transneft Vice President Mikhail Barkov has said Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline project will be frozen and the office of TransBalkanPipeline will be formally kept in Amsterdam.

“In principle we can build Burgas-Alexandroupolis in a few months,” said Barkov, cited by RIA Novosti.
The meeting of the supervisory board about the project will take place on 13 March.

At the beginning of February Transneft received EUR 4,7 million from Bulgaria. The country paid off its debt under the project, but the interest has not been paid yet. At the end of last year Bulgaria’s total debt under the project was nearly EUR 6 million.
