President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Milos Bugarin stated on Friday that the key precondition for Serbia to increase its exports lies in structural adjustment, restructuring of the industry and raising its competitiveness.

During a meeting on Serbia's export potentials, Bugarin said that the uninterrupted functioning of the internal market and existence of a good industrial policy are the most important factors for achieving this goal.

Bugarin assessed that although certain progress has been made in the restructuring of the economy which is not export-oriented, an industrial strategy is still lacking that should serve as an encouragement for the development of industrial branches as based on the needs of foreign demand and local consumption.

He reminded that PKS has submitted its suggestions on measures for export increase through five key domains that comprise encouragement of investments, development of physical and institutional infrastructure, enhancement of competitiveness, innovations, research, development and reform of education.
