The monitoring procedure of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) should be completed soon, and this will be a confirmation of Serbia's huge progress in the areas such as human rights, democracy and the rule of law, member of Serbia's delegation to PACE Natasa Vuckovic stated Tuesday.

"We expect to reach the phase of the so-called post-monitoring already in September. This means that PACE will confirm that Serbia has made a huge progress in the domains which are of importance to the Council of Europe," Vuckovic told Tanjug.

Parliamentary diplomacy must develop at all levels, and the creation of good, friendly relations and cooperation with the European Parliament (EP) members is particularly important, she added.

The presence of the Serbian MPs in the EP has to increase, and the MEPs must be informed about what is happening in Serbia and what kind of reforms are being carried out.

"It is very important for Serbia as a country, which had been isolated for a long time, to use every opportunity to reduce the negative inertia directed toward it," Vuckovic pointed out, adding that 0.1 percent of funds from the parliamentary budget is allocated for the costs of parliamentary diplomacy.
