The first MP whose immunity EULEX wants to see revoked is MP of the ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo and former minister Fatmir Ljimaj who is suspected of having been involved in frauds and organised crime during his office as minister for transport and telecommunications, as well as of having committed war crimes in the village of Klecka during the conflicts in Kosovo in 1999.
If Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasnici persists in his refusal to forward the request to the Constitutional Court, the EULEX mission intends to call on the Constitutional Court via parliamentary caucuses to voice its view on the issue of abolishment of immunity for MPs under investigation.
Each caucus will be asked to support this resolution, the Pristina-based daily Express learnt from an international diplomat who wished to remain anonymous. The source noted that this is EULEX's backup plan if Krasnici does not deliver the request to the Constitutional Court.
According to Krasnici, only one prosecutor request is sufficient to have MP immunity abolished, while the opinion of the Constitutional Court is not necessary. Krasnici sent a letter to EULEX with such interpretation in the attachment on Friday.
Krasnici's stand caused fierce reactions among both American and European diplomats.

EULEX intends to arrest Ljimaj and continue the investigation against him.
