Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic stated Wednesday that the process of recovery of confiscated property and indemnification of citizens will be carried out successfully and fairly, which is possible only if adjusted with other ownership rights and Serbia's available assets and financial funds.

Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic stated Wednesday that the process of recovery of confiscated property and indemnification of citizens will be carried out successfully and fairly, which is possible only if adjusted with other ownership rights and Serbia's available assets and financial funds.

Djelic recalled at Tanjug's roundtable entitled 'Restitution - contribution to the public debate on the law' that the government's committee on economy and finances has composed a draft law on recovery of confiscated property and indemnification, and that it will be tabled in a public debate by September 2.

The deputy prime minister said that about EUR 2 billion and property in kind have been allocated for the restitution process, which is much more than what has been done in the privatization process from 2001 until today.

According to him, the basic principle of the draft law is the rectification of a historic mistake made against people whose property was confiscated.

This will be realized in a manner which will prevent further injustice and in the domain of realistically available finances, Djelic said.
