Dinar continues to strengthen, exchange rate at RSD 101.8

The Serbian dinar continued to strengthen against the euro on Monday, going up by 0.3 percent or 28 paras, and thus setting the official middle exchange rate at RSD 101. 8009, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) released.

On the monthly level, the dinar jumped against the euro by 1.1 percent, and on the annual level by 3.1 percent.

The Serbian currency hit its highest value this year on May 23, when the official middle exchange rate was RSD 96.7007, and its lowest on January 6 with the exchange rate at RSD 106. 4947.

For the first seven months of 2011, the dinar nominally strengthened against the common European currency by 3.3 percent, the NBS release reads.

The indicative dinar-versus-dollar exchange rate on Friday afternoon was RSD 71.3741, which was a 0.8 percent increase in comparison to the previous day.

On the monthly level, the dinar appreciated against the U.S. dollar by 1.8 percent, and on the annual level by 14.4 percent.
