The decision amends Council decision 2011/137/CFSP, adopted on 28 February, which introduced a travel ban and an assets freeze, while granting the necessary humanitarian exemptions.

The Council today extended an assets freeze to two further entities closely linked to the perpetrators of the serious human rights abuses in Libya, given the gravity of the situation.

The decision amends Council decision 2011/137/CFSP, adopted on 28 February, which introduced a travel ban and an assets freeze, while granting the necessary humanitarian exemptions.

In total, six port authorities, 49 entities and 39 persons involved in the serious human rights abuses in Libya are now subject to a freeze of their funds and financial resources in the European Union.

In addition, the same 39 persons, which include Muammar Qadhafi and several family members, are banned from entering the EU.

Today's decision was adopted by written procedure. It will be published in the Official Journal of the EU on Thursday, 11 August 2011.
