Grebo: Economy of Sarajevo Canton lags behind FBiH and BiH

President of the Chamber of Commerce of Sarajevo Canton (PKKS) Kemal Grebo said that SC has serious problems in terms of business and that it lags behind FBiH and BiH.

Speaking at a press conference on economic trends in the Canton of Sarajevo in the period January - November 2010, Grebo said that the industrial production in this period compared to same period 2009 declined by 1.5 percent, while in 11 months of 2010 the industrial production in FBiH recorded growth of 3.4 percent.

He proposed the new government of Sarajevo Canton to immediately "make an inventory of the situation in the canton" and to develop a strategy for future economic growth of SC. Canton.

Total exports of SC in 11 months of 2010 amounted to 670 million KM, and it increased by 9.29 percent compared to the same period a year earlier, while imports grew by 0.5 percent and amounted to 2.8 billion KM.

However, despite this, there is no indication that the canton is emerging from the crisis.

The most important foreign trade cooperation SC had with partners from the EU (46 percent), but this percentage has also decreased compared to the previous period, followed by trade cooperation with the countries of CEFTA Agreement (36.85 percent).
