Joint Bulgarian-Turkish and Greek-Turkish operation Poseidon 2011 – land borders has been launched. It is taking place along the Bulgarian-Turkish and Greek-Turkish land borders.

The main goal of the operation is to establish effective border control along the external borders of the European Union and dealing with the pressure of illegal immigration along the land border between Turkey and Greece.

The operation also seeks to provide timely response at the event of increase of the influx of illegal immigrants. In the initial phase of the operation, staff from Belgium, Holland and Romania will also take part.
