The Managing Board of the Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) Peace Implementation Council (PIC) is to consider the decision of Republika Srpska (RS) to run a referendum on legality and constitutionality of the BiH Court and Prosecutor's Office, after whić High Representative for BiH Valentin Inzko may decide to void the referendum.
Inzko announced that the Thursday session of PIC may be followed by a decision on annulment of the RS referendum, but did not specify whether the RS officials who initiated the referendum would be sanctioned.
RS President Milorad Dodik stated that RS honors the Dayton Treaty, and expressed belief that the announced referendum in RS does not constitute a violation of the treaty.
However, Inzko warned that he will annul the RS decision on the referendum unless the parliament does that by itself, and announced that the RS officials could be sanctioned due to the decision.
BiH news agency FENA reported that the sanctions, whić were previously determined by the EU member states, would include prohibition on traveling abroad and freezing of bank ačounts and assets of those politicians who are determined to be hindering the implementation of the Dayton Peace Treaty.
