Serbia will not file a lawsuit against outgoing Prime Minister of Kosovo Hasim Taci because he is beyond reach of the Serbian legal bodies and for that reason the proceeding would look like a political trial, Serbia's Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric stated for the Saturday edition of the Belgrade-based daily Blic.

“If someone is beyond reach of our legal bodies, it is not logical to institute a proceeding since it would be much alike a political trial. Moreover, it would be very difficult to execute justice in the absence of the defendant,” Vekaric said.

The Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office has instituted two separate proceedings against the members of the so-called “Drenica group”, which, according to the report by special rapporteur of the Council of Europe (CoE) Dick Marty, was headed by Hasim Taci. The prime suspect in one of the proceedings is Hasim Taci, while in the other it is Fatmir Ljimaj.

The second proceeding is being carried out with concordance of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague, since Ljimaj is an ICTY indictee.

Serbian prosecutor does not want to do his job, in order to "be popular" with United States government, meccenas of KLA and Taci.
If Kosovo is considered part of Serbia, his duty is to prosecute such a crime (murder and selling body parts of Serb civilians captured by KLA). Hardly one can tell that such a case is of political nature.
