Serbian President Boris Tadic will attend the unofficial trilateral meeting between heads of Serbia, Croatia and members of the Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) Presidency in Brioni on Monday, the president's press service released on Saturday.

The meeting is organised by Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, the release states.

The BiH Presidency released on Friday that Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic and members of the Presidency Bakir Izetbegovic and Nebojsa Radmanovic would attend the unofficial trilateral meeting between leaders of BiH, Croatia and Serbia in Brioni.

Josipovic's cabinet posted on its website an announcement for the meeting and a notification that meeting participants would give a statement for the media.

This is the first meeting of leaders from these three countries. They are expected to discuss the situation in the region and Euratlantic integrations, particularly from the aspect of Croatia's recent finalization of accession talks with the EU and its up-coming accession agreement with the EU at the end of the year.

Although the agenda of the informal meeting has not been disclosed, the officials are expected to discuss issues involving the three states.

The Croatian public feels that Zagreb's role has grown after the country's successful conclusion of accession talks with the EU, while President Sanader is seen to have emerged as the region's leader, as reflected in his designation as the host of the up-coming trilateral meeting.

Although several similar meetings have been held in the past year, none have been held at this level.

Trilateral meeting on Brijuni starts
The unofficial trilateral meeting of the presidents of Croatia, Serbia and members of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency was opened Monday on the Brijuni Islands (Croatia).

Apart from the host, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, and Serbian President Boris Tadic, the meeting will be attended by all three representatives of the BiH Presidency - Chairman Zeljko Komsic and members Bakir Izetbegovic and Nebojsa Radmanovic.

The top officials expected to address the press after the talks.

The meeting was agreed during the official visit of the Serbian president to Sarajevo on July 6, and the officials are expected to discuss open issues between the regional countries and other topics significant for Serbia, Croatia and BiH.

The trilateral meetings of highest regional officials have been held for the past year and a half with the aim of closing difficult issues and wounds from the period of conflicts on the territory of former Yugoslavia, but also stimulate economic cooperation and provide mutual encouragement and support on the EU pathway of the entire region.

Tadic previously held a meeting with BiH Presidency members in Karadjordjevo village (northern Serbia) in end April 2011, which was attended by Turkish President Abdullah Gul. It was then agreed that the three states should help each other in the EU integration process, without interfering in the neighbors' internal issues.

A trilateral meeting was also held in Istanbul in 2010, at which Tadic and Gul took part, as well as the then chairman of the BiH Presidency Haris Silajdzic.

Tadic also took part in the trilateral meeting with Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom in April 2010, and conferred on two occasions with Croatia's and Slovenia's Prime Ministers, Jadranka Kosor and Borut Pahor respectively, in Ptuj (Slovenia) in March 2010, and in Smederevo (Serbia) in April 2011.
