The government lifted the emergency measures upon proposal of Serbia's Emergency Situation Headquarters, which formed Sunday an operative-expert team for monitoring of landslides which is to alleviate the possible consequences.

Head of the Interior Ministry's Emergency Situation Sector Predrag Maric said that in the next 48 hours, snow and ice should be removed from the remaining 2,300 kilometers of uncategorized and local roads, which is to return life in Serbia back to normal.

Maric recalled that so far the cold snap has claimed 22 lives, one person is recorded as missing, while 308 people were saved.

Director of Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Serbia Milan Dacic underlined that the level of rivers in Serbia is in stagnation, and that this will remain unchanged by March 2, but that after that the water level may rise due to temperature increase and melting of snow.
