Prime minister George Papandreou had a telephone conversation with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday morning, during which they discussed Greek-Russian relations and a potential visit by Medvedev to Greece.

Prime minister George Papandreou had a telephone conversation with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday morning, during which they discussed Greek-Russian relations and a potential visit by Medvedev to Greece.

They further discussed international developments, and chiefly the developments in North Africa and the Middle East.

The discussion focused particularly on the developments in Libya, on which Medvedev endorsed the Greek initiatives for finding a political solution.

During the telephone call, held at Papandreou's initiative, the two leaders exchanged greetings for the Orthodox Easter, which is celebrated in both countries.
