Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic will deliver to European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule the answers Serbia made to the Questionnaire of the European Commission (EC) which is going to prepare an opinion on Serbia’s request for EU membership.
The meeting of Cvetkovic with Fule will take place in Brussels on 31 January.
Apart from Fule, Prime Minister Cvetkovic will discuss Serbia's European integration with President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and with EC President Jose Manuel Barroso.
On the second day of the visit, on 1 February, Cvetkovic will meet with Vice President of the EC and Commissioner for Justice Viviane Reding.
The Serbian delegation to Brussels will also include Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic, Minister of Justice Snezana Malovic and Director of the EU Integration Office Milica Delevic.
Serbia has answered EU questionnaire in record time, faster than any other country in the region that has applied for an EU candidate status so far.
Some additional questions are expected then and Serbia hopes to acquire an EU candidate status by the end of 2011 and that a date for the commencement of preaccession negotiations will be set and a door to the EU opened.
After the acquisition of a candidate status it is very important that the date be set as soon as possible, which is the last stage in the integration of a state to the EU.
